1. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory issued a red warning signal for heavy rain at 17:30 on July 29, 2023. It is forecast to start from that night to The next night, Beijing will experience heavy rains, and extremely heavy rains may occur in the western and southern regions. The main rainfall will be concentrated from 02:00 on the 30th to 20:00 on the 31st. It is expected that there will be heavy rainstorms in the city. Extremely heavy rainstorms may occur in Fangshan, Mentougou, Changping, Haidian, Shijingshan, Fengtai, Yanqing, Daxing, Tongzhou and other places. There are greater risks of secondary disasters such as small and medium-sized river floods, flash floods, and geological disasters in mountainous and shallow mountainous areas. Water accumulation is also prone to occur in low-lying areas in cities. Citizens are reminded to take pre cautions.

Data released by the Beijing Meteorological Observatory shows that from 15:00 on July 26, 2023 to 08:00 on July 27, the average pre cipitation in Beijing is 24.8 mm, and the urban average is 20.5 mm. The average pre cipitation in the northeastern region is 75.7 mm, with the maximum pre cipitation in Shunyi District being 221.8 mm. The rainfall at some stations in Pinggu, Huairou, Miyun and other places exceeded 100 mm. At 10:00 on July 27, the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau and the Beijing Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a flash flood disaster risk warning, indicating that the risk of flash flood disasters is higher in some areas of Miyun, Huairou, and Pinggu Districts.
3. In response to heavy rain, heavy rain warning signals have been issued in many areas of Beijing. For example, the Miyun District, Pinggu District, and Shunyi District Meteorological Observatories issued red rainstorm warning signals on July 27, 2021, and heavy rainfall is expected to continue. 4. Beijing has entered the flood discharge stage, and large and medium-sized reservoirs are operating smoothly. The amount of water in urban rivers has increased and the flow speed has accelerated. Citizens are reminded to stay away from rivers. As an important flood channel, the current water discharge volume of the North Canal remains within the warning line.
5. During heavy rain, citizens should avoid going out. If they must go out, they should wear rainproof gear. When encountering standing water, do not try to walk through it to avoid danger. At home, you should close doors and windows, check for rain leaks, keep communication devices fully charged, and pre pare necessary food and medicine.
6. Affected by Typhoon Dusuri, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region suffered heavy rainfall. The No. 1 flood of 2023 in the Yongding River has passed and is currently in the process of steady receding. Although the river water level has dropped significantly, the risk is still high during the receding period after the embankment has been soaked for a long time.
7. On July 29, 2023, the China Meteorological Administration held a ventilation meeting on heavy rainfall in North China. Experts analyzed that the combined influence of the residual circulation of Typhoon Dusuri and the subtropical high is the main cause of heavy rains in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Abundant water vapor conditions and convective energy provide favorable conditions for heavy rainfall.
